(More customer reviews)I had a bit of bad luck with Liv (specifically their "budget friendly" dolls, like most of the discounted reproductions of the first wave). So, I had been worried about buying any more Liv dolls. When I saw Katie on sale, I decided to chance it. I haven't regretted it, either.
It took a while to debox her, like usual. None of the accessories broke out of the box, nor did I tear any of the clothing. At this point, it should be noted that the helmet is purple, not silver. The outfit is super detailed. The hoodie has an interesting design on it in silver and purple, and it has real pockets. The safety gear actually fits the doll nicely (though the pads are hard to get on and off). Her earrings are designed as two overlapping safety pins (though they are plastic matte-colored, not metallic). Her wig is put up in braided pig tails and very soft. If you want to take the pig tails down, it's not too hard to fix her part. The shorts and leggings are cute and work well with the knee high sneakers.
This doll is also very durable. Her joints are stiff, but not overly so (they click when you move them, but they can move and are very flexible). She can hold poses easily. This is the only doll I can honestly say I'm not afraid of my (not so gentle) friend breaking.
Her make up is very soft and natural looking. So, it suits the character's personality wonderfully--the eye shadow and eye lashes aren't too heavy, and the lip stick is a light pink. Since she comes off as more of a tomboy, this is refreshing.
Overall, I'd highly recommend this doll (or at least this series). These dolls retail at a higher price than most Barbie, Bratz, or Moxie Girlz dolls, but the quality seems to have improved greatly since the line first started.
