(More customer reviews)Overall, I really like this doll. My daughter was ill and unable to go to American Girl as we had planned, so on a last minute idea, I ran to Target and picked this up for her. This doll is the Target version of American Girls' Mia, who is the 2008 doll of the year for AG. The hair only has roots where it needs to, leaving you no choice but to leave her hair up. Within just a few short days with light play the bun started to look bad so I took it out and put a pony tail in. The hair is impossible to comb or brush, so I did my best to arrange it into a pony tail. It looks fine, and hopefully will stay that way.
The clothing and the accessories on the other hand are fantastic. What a great value! I love the fact that she comes with ice skates as well as pink shoes. He jacket is to die for. Her skirt is very well made and thick. The earmuffs do fall off though. Her mittens aren't quite fitted to her hands but they're fun for dress up. She also comes with an MP3 player (the earbuds don't fit in her ear), her tights are very nice, her gym bag is the same design as the AG version, and she also comes with 3 medals that attach with velcro so they don't need to be slipped over her head.
The book is also very well written and easy to read for 2nd-4th graders. Younger children will need it to be read to them.
We added a couple of AG outfits and a set of PJ's that mix and match well with this set and the doll looks very well dressed. Everyone who has seen her thought she was an AG, and in the package she looks like one, but up close and side by side, you can see that AG is the better product.
I highly recommend considering this doll if you are on a budget, or even if you just like all her accessories and clothes for your AG doll you might already have.
