(More customer reviews)If you're only looking for a doll for display purposes, I suppose this isn't a bad doll. I mean, it's put together well enough, and looks nice. But as a ventriloquist doll, it leaves a bit to be desired.
For starters, you basically have to grab the doll around the neck and pull the string with a great deal of force to get the mouth to open. Then, you have to close the mouth manually, or it just hangs open (and it's not just this particular doll, I've seen several on ebay with the same problem).I've also owned these types of dolls in the past, and they were just all around better made (clothes, materials, etc). Not that this one is made poorly overall, but in comparison to some older models of this nature, it's not up to par.
In closing, I've decided to keep my Groucho for display purposes (I hadn't really planned to start a ventriliquist act anyway), a purpose I'm sure he'll serve quite well.
