(More customer reviews)I have always found the whole Barbie phenonemon interesting, along with the dolls inception & history. I remember "Malibu Barbie" very well. Even though she went through a lot on incarnations throughout her product run, ('71-'86) it's nice to see that Mattel has reissued this Barbie in all her original glory! Everything from her off-centre parted blonde hair, her bathing suit, and facial expression are just like the original 1971 doll. This doll is not intended for children, it's geared toward the collector crowd, and states this on the box that it's recommended for people 14 years & over. The original Malibu Barbie had her sunglasses sewn to her head, in this version, the sunglasses are detached-this may be a choking hazard for young kids. Along with this, Mattel has included a clear plastic stand, yellow beach towel, and a bottle of SPF30 sunscreen for a nice updated added touch. It's nice to see that Mattel, and some other toy companies are reissuing dolls like Barbie, GI Joe, etc, to meet the demand for adult toy collectors & nostalgia buffs, like myself, throughout the world.
