(More customer reviews)This doll is just beautiful. The quality is better than I expected and the pictures don't do her justice. Her vinyl is soft to the touch, and her face has a lot of character. Her hair is long to her waist with some layering. It is a little course, but it softened up a little with gentle brushing. I used the American Girl wig brush. The yellow bow in her hair goes all the way around her head and has a snap at the back for ease; no need to retie the bow. The vest is fully lined and made of a rich purple satin. Her pleated skirt is fully serged and hemmed with ribbon along the bottom, not just colored fabric. The bookbag she comes with is a soft, sturdy leather material and would hold a couple of small books. It has 2 snaps for a closure, which I think is a great play feature. Her thigh high socks stay up well, and the black buckled Mary Jane shoes are very cute. The shoe buckles take some dexterity to manage because they are so small, and they have no pin.
Compared to American Girl, she is much smaller overall despite being the same height. Measurements in inches: The calf of AG is 5.25, Kohanna 4.5. AG elbow 4, Kohanna 3.5. AG crown 12, Kohanna 10.5. AG waist 11, Kohanna 9.5. The Carpatina website has an excellent picture for a visual comparison.
Overall, she's a beautiful, excellent quality doll with a more mature appearance than the AG. She reminds me more of vintage style 18" dolls than AG, and I'm very happy to add her to my collection and sew for her.
