Zoobles Dog and Turtle + Happitats (Colors Vary) Review

Zoobles Dog and Turtle + Happitats (Colors Vary)

My 5-year-old has fallen in love with Zoobles and in a few weeks he's already acquired several as rewards for good behavior and keeping up with school work. For being fairly inexpensive, they can be quite fun (for both of us!) to play with together. They are adorable and my little lover of all animals is really enjoying them. He puts them to bed at night in each of their little homes with their eyes closed, and the first thing he does when he wakes up is "wake up" all his Zooble pals. He can play with these for quite some time and loves to act out stories with them. Aside from the bright colors, I wouldn't consider these to be "girl" toys (I hate putting such labels on toys!) but I've noticed I'm the only parent with a son checking out the Zooble aisle! They're just little animals. They are very animated and a lot more fun than traditional collectibles. My only advice is, beware if you have small children in the house who are still in the stage where everything goes in the mouth. These are the perfect size for choking hazards. I have 2-year-old twins and I am always vigilant to make certain the zoobles aren't left within their reach. The carry case is a nice addition for this and is a cute home for the critters as well. That said, I also recommend shopping around. I love Amazon, though their prices on all of these Zoobles are marked up quite a bit over what you'd pay at Wal-Mart, Target, even Toys R' Us is cheaper. Lots of sales this time of year too, so save your money and shop local if you have kiddos who are into these little guys!

Zoobles Bird and Cat + Happitats (Colors Vary) Review

Zoobles Bird and Cat + Happitats (Colors Vary)

My kindergartner (daughter) loves these Zoobles, and we've been collecting them over a period of time. I would advise doing some comparison shopping to get the best value for your money (we always look out for store discounts and coupons). Anyway, what are Zoobles? According to the product website, Zoobles are "collectable, colorful characters that pop open when placed on their magnetized 'Happitat'." In the Zoobles world, there are three kingdoms Petagonia, Azoozia, and Seagonia. In addition, there are Zoobles categorized according to their rarity, i.e. Wal-Mart exclusives, Target exclusives, Toys R Us exclusives, and also just plain common Zoobles. There are also special edition Zoobles such as "fuzzy" Zoobles, "shiny" Zoobles, double packs, and those that comes with special edition tins, and also in playsets.
The individual Zoobles (sold separately) can represent all sorts of creatures such as elephants, octopi, dogs, cats, bunnies, etc. Zoobles are great for imaginative play and my five-and-a-half year old daughter can spend hours entertaining herself by coming up with storylines involving her Zoobles. They are cute, and they encourage imaginative play, plus they make excellent collectable toys! Not for really young children though as they are magnetic, and can pose a choking hazard.

Polly Pocket: All That Playmat for the Rollercoaster Hotel Review

Polly Pocket: All That Playmat for the Rollercoaster Hotel

i bought this mat alongwith the entire rollercoaster Hotel Set(i.e.the hotel,Shani,Lea,Lila etc) as a christmas present for my daughter.I was completely dissapointed at the size of the mat.You would think tht atleast they would make it so that the entire set for the rollercoaster hotel would fit on it,kinda like how the thomas train table is.The mat has to be kept in front of the hotel, which doesnt really serve the purpose.
its a waste of $9.99 plus tax.....

Shure Best Friends Pocket Dolls Dress-Up Review

Shure Best Friends Pocket Dolls Dress-Up

My 5-year-old daughter received this as a gift several years ago and got many many hours of fun out of it. It is easy to take in and out of the plastic carrying case, which takes up very little room, and is a great toy to take along on trips -- it kept my daughter entertained during her brother's music lessons and at other people's houses. She didn't need any help playing with it -- a big plus! Over the years, we have lost one of the dolls, and probably some of the smaller costume pieces as well, but there are a LOT of outfits included so you don't have to worry that one lost shoe or hat is going to spoil the fun. If I had found this earlier, there are many little girls I would have given it to as a present!

Melissa & Doug Magnetic Pretend Play - Jack Review

Melissa and Doug Magnetic Pretend Play - Jack
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My son loved his Dress Up Joey so I thought this would be the perfect companion for Joey. It really is great though Jack mostly just wears his hockey gear. These are really great and kind of a nice "quiet time" toy.
2 complaints:
1) Jack is not quite the same quality as Joey and is already starting to show wear even though he's much newer.
2) It would be awesome if both "dolls" were in the same pose and able to wear the same clothes. My son is not yet 3 and he gets aggravated with the fact that if he puts the wrong clothes on they don't fit quite right.
If you are choosing one over the other go for Joey unless your kiddo is a sports nut.

Zoobles ZBL Zoobles Gift Pack Version 2 Review

Zoobles ZBL Zoobles Gift Pack Version 2
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you're unfamiliar with Zoobles, the easiest way to describe them is to say that they're a combination of Bakugan and Littlest Pet Shop. If your daughter likes one or both of these, she'll probably like Zoobles.
The Zoobles themselves are exactly like Bakugan - small figures that collapse into a round ball. When the bottom of the ball is placed on something metal, the figure springs open into its shape. However, they are themed more toward girls with plenty of pink, purple and other soft colors. This gift pack also comes with 3 "Happitats" for the Zoobles to sit on (or in). These features are very similar to Littlest Pet Shop toys.
On the tops of the happitats are a small metal disc that allows them to pop open into their shapes. In this way, unlike Bakugan, there's no strategy or cards needed. Placing the Zooble inside a happitat rather than on it allows it to stay in its ball shape rather than springing open. I guess this is for when they're "sleeping".
So what do they do - basically nothing. It's up to your imagination. Take that as you want. If your child likes to make their own pretend play this is probably great. If you're looking for the set to come with some sort of strategy, moving parts, etc, then you'll probably want to look at a different toy.
They do seem to have more details than Bakugan - some of them have tails, ears, hands/arms, legs, noses, and not least of all, eyes. Now a clarification on the eyes - some Zoobles' eyes change each time you close and open them. Some Zoobles have 3 different eye pattern (looking straight ahead, looking up, and closed). Therefore, these ones appear like they're not closing their eyes when they are closed, but in reality, since there's 3 positions, they ARE working properly. Some Zoobles have a nose which when pushed make the eyes move. Some noses can be pushed to make the Zooble pop open, whereas other noses don't make them pop open. With so many combinations, I think it's easy to confuse this with not working properly. Since there's no instructions on what each Zoobles' features are, it's hard to tell. This would be my recommendation to spinmaster - include a card or paper for each Zooble (they are "collectible" after all) which highlights these differences and what the Zooble should actually do.
Quality is on par for a product of this type. I've found that the best way to close them is to close all ears, hands, arms, etc THEN close the feet where the magnet is located. This ensures they stay shut. Closing that part first sometimes causes the ears or other parts to stay open. The only thing I think was "cheap" is that on the Happitats, where the metal disc is placed, it's only covered by a sticker the same color as the plastic. Some of these were already peeling off when I opened the package, and I can easily see them coming off. It won't affect the functionality of the toy, you'll just see a shiny metal disc on top rather than a colored sticker.
The gift pack is really just 5 Zoobles and 3 Happitats which come in a vinyl zippered bag. The bag is ok to put them back into, but is actually quite oversized for this set alone. If you have other Zoobles from separate purchases the bag is probably a nice addition to keep them all together. There's no accessory items like brushes, purses, flowers, or whatever else, so no real small parts to lose or keep track of.
In terms of value, I can't really asses it since I received these as part of Amazon Vine. Personally, I don't think I'd spend the full retail price for them, and I predict that like most new/fad toys, the price will decline to something more reasonable in the future. If comparing to Bakugan, you'll get about 6 Bakugan for the same price, though you'd get extra cards and no "happitats". Littlest Pet Shop gift packs are around the same price or a bit cheaper. From that comparison, the Zoobles Gift Pack is probably at least in the right ballpark compared to similar products.
Overall, I'm giving it 4 stars. I don't see any major problems with quality, they are marketed to the right audience, and are priced similarly to the two toys that they are easiest to compare to.
For the record, my gift pack included the following Zoobles:
#113 Wensley
#114 Zizi
#115 Panzi
#117 Daniela
#118 Dell
Also, and I'm checking with the Vine program, I was sent the item that actually seems to be Zoobles Petagonia Gift Pack. When I compare the pictures, I have that exact item, whereas the picture for the item of this review is slightly different. In fact, the item number under UPC on my item is 20034543.

Zoobles Cat and Mouse + Happitats (Colors Vary) Review

Zoobles Cat and Mouse + Happitats (Colors Vary)
Average Reviews:

Walking through a local store I happened across these cute little figures and well... being me I jumped on them! About two hours and several bills later I sat at home to enjoy these at my coffee table.
First of all Zoobles are some kind of wonderful crossbreed between Littlest Pet Shop and Bakugan. Little creatures composed of springy parts that fold into a small ball, they turn back to a critter when placed on their included dwelling (they're eyes even move!). Their decorations fall somewhere between groovy-disco and a Mexican sugar-skull, with small hollows even molded in which adds to their delicate look. Well, I say "look" because I'm not going to break mine to test their sturdiness, sorry. As always, I say obey the age recommendation (4+ years).
Now the fun part! playing with these is guaranteed fun, as balls they roll, when placed on their "happitats" they spring up instantly. I picked up about eight different molds, and all look at least vaguely like the creature they're supposed to. These two are a cat and mouse pair, which makes for a good beginning set.
So Positives: Cute, intricate, colorful, various animals, numbered for easy collecting, made for creative play. :)
Negatives: Possibly fragile, could have included a game aspect (like Bakugan) but doesn't, has metal springs that can rust if you submerge them,
Overall, I'm loving them, and I'm betting they'll be a big holiday hit this year. If you're uncertain about them I'd suggest you go see them in person, they're absolutely charming! just make sure the recipient kid treats their toys gently, they do feel a bit fragil
