(More customer reviews)Had to order this after Christmas when the Christmas 2008 Barbie never got here. The girls waited for the mail man to show up with the last 1/3 of their Christmas. It was better than the one I originally orderd. The granddaughters liked it so well, it was OK with them it was late. It had more playability than the other one too. It had more animls than pictured and they both are Barbie and animal nuts. It even made me feel better
about that gift being late.

2008 Holiday Barbie Review

(More customer reviews)I have to correct some misinformation first, the Holiday Barbie series started in 1988, however, an African American edition to the Holiday line was not added until 1990, so it's the 18th year for the African American doll, not the 20th. That said, this doll is stunning. I think the white and silver gown does this doll much justice and the facial mold and facial paint is lovely. I also like the square box versus the odd shaped boxes of the holiday edition dolls in the past, I think it makes the doll easier to display and to store. I do not debox my doll so I can't speak on the quality of the material but she looks amazing sitting next to the other holiday dolls in my collection.

(More customer reviews)I am a little disturbed by some of the reviews I'm reading about this doll's skin tone. First of all, all African Americans are NOT the same skin tone! I'm African American and I am about 3 or 4 shades lighter than this doll. My skin tone in the African American community, is what we consider "High Yellow." So I don't get all this business about her color not being "true" African American. People please know that there is no specific African American color. African American and Latino American's represent MANY shades of Brown. I'm talking from super "high yellow" to "ebony" dark and every beautiful shade in between.

For more than a decade, Barbie has celebrated each holiday season with a special edition doll commemorating the year. Joining this tradition is the lovely 2007 Holiday Barbie. Barbie's elegant gown features a fitted, strapless bodice with black lace trim along the décolletage, and a full skirt of deep, ruby red. The bodice and skirt overlay are made from soft, rich velvet that is accented with white faux fur and more black lace. Around Barbie's trim waist is a black belt with a crystal-accented buckle--reminiscent of something Mr. Claus might wear.
