If you turn it upside down, the baby "spits up". It is really great. Why does he only say MAMA though? Does the manufacturer not consider that boys may be playing with this doll...they may want to be called DADA or DADDY ...??

Barbie In A Mermaid Tale Seahorse Stylist Doll - Purple Review

(More customer reviews)This is one of 3 'Destinies' from the movie "A Mermaid Tale". Of the three, this wasn't the head Destiny and was more of a supporting character. If you are trying to decide on which Destiny to buy, I would recommend the Pink one (in the jeans) over the purple and blue ones. The pink Destiny most resembles the movie character and had the most lines in the movie. The blue and purple ones did not do much at all in the movie - or as a doll.
These are smaller than a Barbie doll (even though the Destinies were full Barbie size in the movie) and made of hard plastic. They don't move at all and aren't posable. The sea horses come with a little stand on their back and the Destiny doll clips into it loosely. Which can be problematic - they aren't very useful out of the water since they don't stand at all and certainly they don't float right in the water.
Since this purple Destiny doesn't resemble the character in the movie, isn't posable, doesn't sit right, falls out of the 'saddle' easily, and doesn't allow for you to change her clothes, I don't rate this highly. If your daughter really wants the Destinies, I would get the pink one only and be done with it.

Her three yr old sister has "been sharing it" by showing her how to twirl around and dance with Ariel. Dancing, playing or bedtime, Sing along Ariel is a huge hit in our home!
I was concerned when I bought it that the song was too short. However, when you get her out of the box & remove the demo tag, the longer version of "Part of this world" plays. Whew!

My only complaint is that the shower sprayer feature is hard to use, you have to tap it just right and somewhat hard but not too hard that you might break it. The umbrella and stand do come off easily so it is slightly annoying to put it back together. I wouldn't pay more than $15 for this product. Overall a nice addition to my daughters Strawberry Shortcake collection.

Barbie Mermaid Swim 'N Play Playset Review

(More customer reviews)This toy has 6 large suction cups on the back that hold it fairly securely to tiled surfaces. It comes with several levels - a top chair for the small mermaid (color changing in water) that comes with the set, a little shower area that you can make work with a small pumping lever, a slide, and a bottom trough that holds water. It also comes with a seashell that you can use to scoop up water to put in the shower area - the area has a small hole at the bottom and water flows through there across flower spinners and catches in the trough at the bottom. There's also a swing for the normal sized merliah doll (which doesn't come with the set).
The shell scoop is a great idea - fun to play with on its owner or to use with the set. There is a lot for the little mermaid to do but not much for a regular sized barbie. The large swing is set up so it can sit the flexible and non-flexible tailed Barbies (the 'co star' mermaid doll does not bend at all, for example).
In all, my daughter really loves it. We have to prop it up, though, since we have a free-standing bathtub with wood walls (no tiles). So keep in mind that it doesn't stand up on its own and you'll need a riled wall above the bathtub.

It is a fun toy for the bath, but it only kept my 2 1/2 year olds attention for about 5 minutes. I would suggest looking for a bigger Ariel doll for the same price.

We bought the pink and yellow ones too because they are so reasonably priced. I gave the toy five stars for educational value because it really encourages her imaginative play and role play too. Also great for coordination since the hair applicator requires some precision, and so does putting the comb back into the tail. Beware of losing the combs though - they can fall out quite easily and go down the plug hole!!

(More customer reviews)I got this for my daughter's 4th bday recently. She loves it and it keeps her busy. She plays with her ariel doll in and out of the tub. No problems with it popping off the tub. With suction cups you need to wet them before sticking them on a dry surface. The only thing that annoys me is if my daughter bumps the slide while taking her bath it comes off pretty easily and then I have to reattach it. Everything else great : )

(More customer reviews)I was so excited to get this for my daughter, but it wound up being a flop. She asked me to give it to another little girl. :(
- The floatie is nearly impossible to blow up. I tried, and my husband finally managed to get it about a third blown up.
- The doll is too tall to float upright in most tubs unless your child takes VERY deep baths.
- The doll doesn't float upright even if you fill the tub way, way up!
- Once wet, you can see all the roots of the hair and it is very creepy looking.
- The mermaid tail fills with water while she is in the tub. I guess that's supposed to add weight so that she floats properly, but it doesn't work, and it's just a great way to create mold IMO.
- Flounder is supposed to be a squirty but I found him nearly impossible to squeeze. His plastic is too hard for him to be able to squeeze and squirt water.
- Ariel doesn't bend to sit down. I don't know why, as her body is jointed at the waist, but you can't bend her to sit down.
BOO to Disney for this craptastic toy.
The only pro is that the doll is very pretty. Also this doll is quite heavy compared to some dolls.

(More customer reviews)My daughter received this toy as a gift on her second birthday. Overall, it is a good toy for her to play with, but the lifejacket and Boots' innertube do not change color. I do like the fact that Dora is wearing a lifejacket, which makes it easy to convince my daughter to wear one. My daughter does seem to play more with Boots than Dora, probably because he squirts water. The toy is easy to clean(my daughter plays with it in an outdoor pool, and it sometimes ends up out of the water and on the ground). It has held up very well considering it is at the mercy of a two-year old. It's a good toy, but I wish it would change colors like the packaging stated.

Just as other reviews have said when you give the bottle to this doll the water literally goes straight through. My son learned immediately that the baby couldn't go potty with out the bottle. there is no squeezing the tummy. You best have him over the potty when you feed him.
May work for our purposes, but it isn't what we thought we were buying.

(More customer reviews)My 4 year old daughter loves her Only Hearts Dolls and always enjoys dressing them up and changing their outfits. When we found this costume online for her we knew it would be a hit. Since all of her other clothes are quite simple, she was delighted to have such a fancy new outfit to send her imagination off. She has been able to put it on her doll with little or no assistance except for the crown which she brings to me to do. It is nicely made, with lots of little sparkles to appeal to the kids. A little bonus, since this is a tail, is that this does not come with shoes which we always manage to loose just one of.
