(More customer reviews)I have not opened the box yet, it's a gift for my neice. I'm sure she'll enjoy it. I just inspected her inside the packaging and it's a nice looking doll but from what i can see, they didn't do the best job with her "weave"...it looks like a weave. You know... you don't see any "scalp". I can't wait to open the box and get a closer look at why the hair is not smooth and in the dolls head like normal. Instead it looks sort of put together...I will update this after we open the gifts.
Overall, it's a nice looking doll but the hair is the 2nd thing I noticed.

(More customer reviews)Twenty-five year old Caucasian getting in to Barbie collecting(collectable and non-collectable). This just happens to be my first doll(1971 Malibu repro. shipment on the way!) after looking around a bit online. I then went to Walmart(same price as here) and saw her and had to scoop her up. I am very picky and this doll looks so nice and not cheap like some other regular Barbie playdolls. She has perfect face paint, awesome outfit, and her shoes do come off. Very difficult to get her head unattached from the box as I didn't want to mess up her hair. And I do not think her clothes would come off that well, the sweater anyway... it't tiiight. Any little girl would love this doll!

Butterfly Art Christie AA Doll is a 1998 Mattel production made in Indonesia & US. Model #20360. Christie is an ethnic AA doll & a friend of Barbie. Christie has dark skin & she's approx. 11.5" tall and has long dark brown hair & brown eyes. She wears a short blue denim skirt with fringe hemline & has yellow thread trim. The skirt is worn over a two piece yellow w/pink horizontal stripes knit swimsuit. On her left wrist, Christie has a "friendship" bracelet & butterfly "tattoo necklace". Included in the box with Christie are temporary transfers, hairbrush & the instructions. Decorate you & Christie doll with washable decorations! Details inside box. I did take the brush away from her so she would not brush her hair. Curly haired dolls should not have their hair brushed. It makes it frizzy! Perfect for small girls!!!! I like that Fisher Price makes dolls of many shades of skin. This is a very pretty doll, she even has braids in her hair.

It seems the dolls become more and more beautiful each year and 2009 was no exception. The Barbie 2009 Holiday African-American Doll is stunning and my niece loved it. The dolls have proven to be quite durable over the years and she has been having fabulous tea parties with her Barbie collection.
This is the first time I have purchased my niece's Barbie at Amazon.com and I am so pleased with my decision. The purchase price at Amazon.com was 20-25% cheaper than anywhere else I looked and they offered free shipping. Additionally, I used regular (free) shipping since I was placing my order 3 weeks before Christmas but I was amazed at how quickly I received my order...3 days.
Next year I will definitely start with Amazon.com.
