Barbie Collector Harley Davidson Doll Review

Barbie Collector Harley Davidson Doll

I have to admit, Barbie is not my primary doll for collecting. In fact, we bought this doll for my daughter's collection. But when we actually took her out of the box, I have to confess I was smitten--absolutely smitten--with this doll's face.
Her makeup is really perfect for this look. She's got smokey eyes, but very neutral lips (check out my real-life photos of this doll!). Her hair is heavily gelled in the front, and came attached to her "leather" bustier (which really does lace up in the back).
The outfit is pretty cool, without looking trashy. She's wearing jeans under her pink "leather" chaps. And her bustier is pretty over-the-top, and she does have an angel tattoo on her back (just be aware of this if you're buying her for a younger collector). She has over-sized gunmetal gray hoop earrings that really pull together her look, and of course, black motorcycle boots and an airbrushed helmet.
My one complaint with this doll is her hair. I wish Mattel would fix its packaging on the collector dolls. More often than not, when you debox a doll, the hair just looks like a rat's nest in the back. However, in this case, Barbie rides a motorcycle. Heck, everyone who has ever ridden on a motorcycle knows your hair gets messed up. So that's why I still can rate this doll five stars. (Just be careful if you debox her.)

I let my girls (ages 14 & 9) rate this doll set. They really like that Ken has arms and legs that bend. Barbie's legs bend too but her arms do not. They also love the clothes.

Silkstone Barbie Trace of lace Brunette Doll limited 5000 worldwide Review

Silkstone Barbie Trace of lace Brunette Doll limited 5000 worldwide

.
I've discovered that once you own a Silkstone doll, you want more. If you have a straight arm doll, then you want one with bent arms. With the many face molds, it is a pleasure that the Silkies features are closer to the original Barbie than so many variations that Mattel has brought into the doll world.
The doll world is very competitive, and to keep dolls affordable Mattel has broken the dolls into play line (generally up to $35.00) with quantities over 100,000 that are available just about everywhere. Next is the Gold Label, which is what Trace of Lace is, and it is limited to about 5,000 -- these are true collectible dolls. The Platinum label is limited to only 1,000 dolls, and highly sought after.
Silkstone is a mixture of granite and other elements so that it is very hard and much heavier than vinyl. Robert Best and Mattel came together to create Silkstone dolls. They wanted the absolute beauty of porcelain, but not its fragility. Silkstone is used as counter tops, floors, and many other items. It is #8 on the Mohn scale of hardness; #10 is diamond, the hardest element.
Using a product that will reproduce with the elegance of porcelain, but not the obvious possibilities of breakage, Robert Best has created some of the most gorgeous dolls Mattel releases.
Trace of Lace is stunning, and her dress is to die for (I love black lace). Silkstone dolls are thinner than their earlier Mattel counterparts, so your clothing for early Barbie's will fit, but they will be loose. The Silkstone clothing, however, will not fit the early Barbie bodies. Silkies can wear Fashion Fever clothing, and FF can wear SOME Silkier outfits.
Silkstone dolls are not articulated. Articulation is becoming more and more important in the doll world, so if Robert Best decides to articulate a Silkstone, look for many joints and excess pieces. Whereas a porcelain is not for play, and can even break when you remove the small plastic circles between the arms, legs and torso, you won't find this in Silkies. Some Silkies are even in the Play Line price range.
A bit of trivia: OOAK (One Of A Kind) artists have more difficulty rerooting the Silkies, but because of its durability, many are able to remove the head and turn a short haired brunet into a multi-streaked, long haired redhead.
I love Silkies! Wish I had all of them, but that's not possible. The do not mar easily. Their hair is saran and it is sleek and shiny. If you have never owned a Silkie, this is the one to buy. You willl love her -- 5 stars.

1996 1st - First in the Harley-Davidson Barbie series - Barbie doll and Harley-Davidson. Who would have guessed they'd make a perfect match? She's a vision of black faux leather, blonde hair and "silver" studs, Harley-Davidson Barbie doll represents today's free-spirited woman. Her jacket and backpack proudly display the Harley-Davidson logo. She also has "silver" hoop earrings, black boots, sunglasses and helmet.
Harley-Davidson motorcycles are famous for style, performance, and their distinctive sound, which makes Harley-Davidson the ultimate riding experience. So, as Barbie doll puts on her helmet and zips up her jacket, she's ready to ride on a motorcycle that can take her anywhere she wants to go!
Mattel went on o make other Harley Davidson Barbie dolls, but I believe this one is the prettiest!!

Dolls of the World Moroccan Barbie Review

Dolls of the World Moroccan Barbie
Average Reviews:

Thanks to her soft-bright pink and orange costume (beautiful orange-pink patterened fabric with pink accents), this is the doll everyone sees first. Her face is charming, her skin cafe au lait, slightly darker than Teresa but much lighter than Christie. She is understated on the jewelry: head ornament, necklace, and earrings. The copy on the back of the box encourages people to go read a book about her country.

Harley Davidson Motorcycle for Barbie doll Review

Harley Davidson Motorcycle for Barbie doll

The bike is beautiful, very detailed and authentic looking. If I had bought it for myself to display in my Barbie collection, I would give it 5 stars. However I bought it for my 3 year old grand daughter who wants to play with it and her Barbies. The bike is much too small for Barbies. Why would Matel not make it the right size, or at least put a disclaimer that it is for looks only and the Barbie cant actually sit on it???

Barbie: 1 Modern Circle - Barbie, Producer Review

Barbie: 1 Modern Circle - Barbie, Producer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have been a Barbie collector for over twenty years, and this is one of the most innovative and exciting new designs I have ever seen. She is literally breathtaking; very mod and avant garde, and arrives in a unique box shaped like a triangle, with a modern background printed on the box. She has shocking orange hair, beautiful make-up and her eyes are actually round and protrude slightly from her face just like a real person's. She is carrying a notebook PC and briefcase in one hand and a tiny cell phone in the other. She looks capable of running an office and has a professional executive attitude, from her fashion to her accessories. Barbie has undergone many transformations over the years, but this is one of the most innovative, unique and exciting looks she has ever had, and I hope to see more of this style barbie. So beautiful I bought two of her, one to "play" with and one for display, which she does wonderfully in her triangular box. She exemplifies what women are capable of in the professional world...good "role model" and a positive image for little girls.
