She does not bend like other barbies and is not very posable but overall is a very pretty and sturdy doll. I like this doll a lot better than the "transforming doll". After reading other reviews on the "transforming doll", I decided to purchase this for my little girls (Molly and Casey). They are so happy with the dolls that it was worth every penny.

Barbie In A Mermaid Tale Seahorse Stylist Doll - Purple Review

(More customer reviews)This is one of 3 'Destinies' from the movie "A Mermaid Tale". Of the three, this wasn't the head Destiny and was more of a supporting character. If you are trying to decide on which Destiny to buy, I would recommend the Pink one (in the jeans) over the purple and blue ones. The pink Destiny most resembles the movie character and had the most lines in the movie. The blue and purple ones did not do much at all in the movie - or as a doll.
These are smaller than a Barbie doll (even though the Destinies were full Barbie size in the movie) and made of hard plastic. They don't move at all and aren't posable. The sea horses come with a little stand on their back and the Destiny doll clips into it loosely. Which can be problematic - they aren't very useful out of the water since they don't stand at all and certainly they don't float right in the water.
Since this purple Destiny doesn't resemble the character in the movie, isn't posable, doesn't sit right, falls out of the 'saddle' easily, and doesn't allow for you to change her clothes, I don't rate this highly. If your daughter really wants the Destinies, I would get the pink one only and be done with it.

(More customer reviews)The Barbie's sunglasses are actually attached to the Barbie's head and the only way to get them off would be to cut it, which leaves the annoying pink strands of string dangling in her hair. The shoes don't really attach to the snowboard so the snowboard does't stay on the Barbie's feet very long. Not the best Barbie ever but it's okay.

We like the light up feature and the styling is really cute. When you take the time to put all the accessories into the display spots it is fun to spin and choose. However it is quite time consuming setting it up.
I don't remember seeing in the description that the wings only fit on Rayla, Rayna and Willa Dolls, as we only had Mariposa. But that is the case, so make sure you have one of the above mentioned dolls or buy with them.

(More customer reviews)This doll has a pretty, and larger face (reminscent of Bratz dolls) than Barbie and with heavier makeup, fuller lips. She'll still fit into regular sized Barbie clothes though. Her body is glittery and she has on permanent "undergarments" so your kid can never strip her nude. If you try to undo the orange braided hair you'll wind up with a frizzful that you can try to comb out (may 4 year old thought she looked scary with the loopy braids)but it will still be a bit crimped in the front. The hair at the back is very nicely waved though.
The wings are heavily glued on with visible silicone.
Daughter liked the sunburst necklace bonus the best.

But in fact, she has a cheap plastic dresser mirror (with no dresser and the 'mirror' is a decal that doesn't work well as something that actually reflects). The mirror was so cheap looking (badly molded plastic) that it never was used by my 7 year old.
The doll itself is fine - nothing special. And she comes with some extra accessories that will get lost.
Honestly, there are a LOT of Barbies out there and most of them will have more play or pretend play value than this one does. Unless your daughter specifically wants the particular look of this doll, I fear she will end up undressed and discarded/unused in the closet. There's just not enough of a theme to hold together any play value (not sure what the mirror has to do with a party theme).

Barbie Fairy - Tastic Pink/Purple Princess Doll Review

(More customer reviews)As much as I love the Barbie line, the fairies always seem to suffer from design flaws. What you don't see in the pictures on amazon or on the box is that this fairy has all kinds of plastic pieces coming out her back. These pieces are so that the 'gimmick' of having the wings turn into a skirt in one motion of the arms would work. It makes the back of the doll kind of ugly and the skirt stick out weird in order to do the 'gimmick' movement.
I wish (and thought) this was more like the 3 musketeers barbies where the skirt does double duty (cape/skirt) but isn't attached to plastic pieces in the back. And like the Mariposa doll and other fairies, kids just don't like those plastic pieces in back. When you don't have wings permanently attached, they just fall off. All the time.
As others noted, getting this doll out of the package is a true pain. Getting the wings on the doll for the gimmick is even more annoying. Within 5 minutes, the wing gimmick trick no longer worked right and the crown fell off. I really wish they'd sew the crowns to the head.
So yeah, yet another failure. Instead of this doll, buy the new Mermaid dolls. Those have tails of soft vinyl that make the mermaid posable and much more fun to play. What girl wants to play with a toy that keeps breaking or has strange plastic pieces sticking out the back like a victim of strange experimentation?

Barbie A Fashion Fairytale Flairies Shim'R Doll Review

(More customer reviews)These flairies from the Barbie movie are good quality and bear a decent resemblance to the fairies in the Barbie A Fashion Fairytale movie. This doll, Shim'R, was not the most prominent of the 3; along with Shin'E and Glim'R they made the dresses in the Barbie movie glitter. Shine'E and Shim'R had their own moments in the movie but of the three, it was Glim'R who had the most attention since she was having trouble making her magic work and the other two helped her out.
If you are trying to decide which of the Flairies to get, I would recommend Glim'R first since she had a larger part in the movie. Otherwise, for the price, might as well get the three.
The quality of the doll is good and all 3 are surprisingly large (not to scale) in comparison to the Barbie dolls from the movie. Glitter does come off in your hands occasionally from their legs since it is not molded in but lightly glued on. But they are fairly easy to pose (legs don't bend but they do spread easily) and in all very decent additions to the Fashion Fairytale line of dolls.

Barbie Sparkle Light Up Purple Fairy Doll Review

(More customer reviews)This doll is really interesting - my 7 year old LOVES it. When you push the button on her leg, a 'blade' in the back rotates and as it does, creates wings made out of lights. The lights are programmed so that the wings appear to be flapping and moving around. It's something that is hard to explain in writing but very interesting when seen. Of all the electronic wings Barbies, this was definitely the best concept. The only downside is that when the wings aren't spinning, there is the 'blade' left in the back rather than wings. I would have liked it better if the blade had been encased between transparent filament wings so that she was pretty when the blade wasn't whirring and creating her light-based fluttering wings.
The outfit she is wearing is nice, as is her hair and styling. Note that the legs and arms do not bend so she is a standing/flying doll only. But in my opinion, something original and different and well worth the price for a little girl who loves fairies.

It's great for car rides and for restaurant outings or for boring adult errands. I was very surprised to see that it is actually a great learning tool. This keeps her busy and it's simple enough for her to use. It's a great gift idea because it's not a huge toy that takes up a lot of space and can go on everyday trips or vacations. I put it in my purse and carry it around for her. She feels all grown up using a toy like this. Great gift!!!
